Since 1997, I have performed almost exclusively on bocals made Stephan Leitzinger. Recently, I played on several of the newest bassoons made by Mr. Leitzinger.  These instruments demonstrate both his strong technical skills and his keen motivation to build top quality bassoons.  They have an even sonority, a very dark sound, a good scale and an appealing resistance consistent with the finest modern German instruments.  

The wood, the finish and the key work reveal a sophisticated understanding of the needs of bassoonists.  I applaud Mr. Leitzinger’s dedication and his ongoing efforts and recommend that anyone purchasing a new bassoon give strong consideration to his instruments.
